Create and publish a course

Add materials, build a path, choose completion activities and share your course with learners.

A course holds your materials and activities. Its path organizes them into modules that learners follow. You need editor access to change an existing course.

Menu names in this guide follow the English interface. Uploading, AI generation and scenarios depend on your organization's licenses, available features and credits.

Create the course

  1. In the sidebar, under Courses, choose Create course. SceneSnap creates the course and opens it.
  2. Select the course title to rename it. Use Add property to add a description, organizer or delivery date if needed.
  3. Wait for Saved after editing the course details. If saving fails, retry before leaving.

Creating a course does not give everyone in your organization access. You choose its audience through sharing and permissions.

Add materials

  1. In Course content, use the upload area or drop files onto the course page.
  2. Wait for each material to finish processing. Uploads can take time before they are ready to study.
  3. Open the material and review its content before adding it to the learning path.

The upload area accepts documents and media, with up to ten files per batch. The file picker shows the supported formats. Folders organize the course library; modules organize the learner's path.

Build the course path

  1. Open Course path and choose Create the first module or Add module.
  2. Enter the module title and optional description, then choose Create module. New modules start as drafts.
  3. Inside the module, choose Add activity. Select a video, document, approved scenario or final quiz from the course. If an item does not exist yet, use the creation option in that section of the picker.
  4. Drag the handles to reorder modules and activities. You can move an activity between modules.

Adding an activity places the existing material in the path; it does not make a second copy. Remove from path removes that placement. The original material stays in Course content.

Submodules

Use Add submodule inside an empty top-level module when you need another level of organization. A module can contain activities or submodules. Put activities inside the submodules when you use them.

There are two levels: modules and their submodules. You cannot nest another submodule inside a submodule. A module that already contains activities cannot receive submodules until you move those activities out. Use Move to in a module's menu to change its location where offered.

Choose what counts toward completion

Activities count by default. In an activity's ⋯ menu, choose Don't count toward completion to mark it Optional, or Count toward completion to include it again.

The path shows Completes with … activities. Check this summary before sharing the course. You cannot exclude the last activity that counts in a published path.

A course completes when the learner finishes every activity that counts. Opening a document or video normally starts it; completing its Repeater plan finishes it. If you switch Repeater off through the course's Tool visibility, opening the material counts as completion instead. Scenarios require a finished run, and a final quiz requires a passing result. See the learner guide.

When there is no required activity in a published path, the completion rule falls back to all available course activities. An empty course does not complete automatically. Once completion has been recorded for a learner, later changes do not revoke it.

Final quiz

The final quiz is offered once the course is shared. If its creation option is missing, share the course with the intended audience first. Then use Create final quiz in the course content, or the final-quiz creation option in Add activity. Write the questions, mark the correct answers and review Settings before choosing Save final quiz.

SettingWhat to decide
Pass thresholdThe score needed to pass
Unlimited attempts or Max attemptsWhether retries are limited
Unlock requirementsWhat learners must do before they can start

Unlock requirements count materials in the published path when one exists; otherwise they count the course library. Unlocking a quiz and completing the course are separate rules. Place the quiz in the path and check that it counts if you want passing it to be required for course completion.

Publish and preview

  1. Choose Publish for a draft module, or Publish all to publish the drafts together.
  2. Check submodules as well. Publishing a submodule also publishes its parent. Moving a parent back to draft hides its submodules from the learner path.
  3. Use Preview path to inspect a published path. On a shared course, Preview as participant lets you use the participant view; choose Exit preview to return to editing.
  4. Open Share and grant the intended people, groups or organization access.

Preview is interactive: quizzes and progress count as yours. It is not a disposable test account.

Publishing makes a module appear in the learner path. It does not grant course access or make the course public. A draft module also does not make its underlying materials private: learners with course access can still reach available materials through See all materials.

To hide a published module from the path, use Move back to draft. Deleting a parent module removes its submodules and path activities too; the materials remain in the course library.

Deliver it through your LMS

After reviewing the course and sharing it with the intended audience, follow the setup for SCORM or LTI. SCORM reports completion and tracked time. LTI opens linked content and does not report grades or completion.

Course authoring sends your course details, uploaded materials, path choices and quiz questions to SceneSnap. Learner activity is recorded separately; dashboard visibility follows the organization's privacy settings.
